Creating an episode with Anchor's Music Tool

Creating an episode with Anchor's music tool is easy and can be done from the web or from your Anchor mobile app. 

Creating an episode with songs on the web:

  1. Log into your Anchor account on the web
  2. Click "New Episode" on the top right hand side of your screen
  3. Click on the blue "Music" button

  • Read the terms listed in the black box that appears on your screen and click "Let's do it" to agree to the terms

  • Search for any song from Spotify's library in the search bar at the top or click the black "Connect to Spotify" button towards the bottom of your screen to browse your playlists from your Premium Spotify account. Note: linking to your Premium Spotify account is currently only supported on the web version of Anchor.

  • Search for the song(s) or artist(s) you wish to include in your episode and place it in your episode builder

  • Make sure your episode also contains recorded or uploaded audio. You can't upload and publish an episode that contains only music. If your episode contains only music you will receive the screen below.

  • Once your episode contains audio you can submit your episode for publishing approval to Spotify by clicking the purple "Submit episode for review".

  • From here, your episode will be reviewed for publishing on Spotify. Learn more about your episode's publishing states here

Creating an episode with songs on your Anchor app:

  • After opening your Anchor app, click the purple "+ Tools" icon at the bottom of your screen
  • Scroll to the right at the bottom of your screen and select the blue "Music" icon
  • Read and acknowledge the terms shown on your screen and select "Let's do it" to begin searching for songs

  • In the search bar, search for the song(s) or artist(s) you wish to include and press the (+) to the right of the song to add it into your episode

  • Select "Add song to episode" on the next screen to confirm adding the song
  • Your song will now be added to your episode. Make sure your episode also contains recorded or uploaded audio. You can't upload and publish an episode that contains only music. If your episode contains only music you will receive the screen below.

  • To add audio to your episode, press the "(+) Tools" icon at the bottom of your screen and select the purple "Library" icon to add audio already stored in your library or select the red "Record" icon to record audio directly onto your phone to be added to your episode
  • Once you've added audio and songs to your episode and you are ready to submit your episode for review to be published on Spotify select the "Publish" button at the top right of your screen

  • Add your episode title and description and select "Submit episode for review" at the bottom of your screen

  • From here, your episode will be reviewed for publishing on Spotify. Learn more about your episode's publishing states here
